Equine Assisted Learning

Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) gives participants the chance to grow and learn through hands-on, unmounted group activities with horses. Instead of riding, participants work alongside horses in ways that encourage reflection, cooperation, and personal development. Horses are incredible partners for teaching life skills because they respond honestly and immediately to the people around them.

Each session can be tailored to the needs of the group and may focus on areas such as:

  • Responsibility – learning how to care for and work safely with a horse

  • Teamwork – practicing cooperation and communication to reach shared goals

  • Problem-solving – approaching challenges creatively and building confidence

  • Sensory integration – engaging the senses through hands-on interaction and movement

  • Leadership and self-awareness – understanding body language, emotions, and how they influence others

Through these experiences, participants not only gain practical skills but also build confidence, empathy, and resilience—qualities that extend well beyond the barn.

Who we serve

We offer these services to a variety of groups including school groups, sports groups, youth development programs, group homes, and community outreach groups.

Benefits of Adaptive Riding

Some of the many benefits of EAL may include:

  • Boosting self-esteem and confidence – experiencing success while working with such a large, responsive animal helps participants believe in themselves.

  • Building communication skills – horses rely heavily on body language, teaching participants to better understand non-verbal cues and improve how they connect with others.

  • Encouraging self-awareness and responsibility – every action has an effect when working with horses, fostering accountability and reflection.

  • Strengthening social skills and teamwork – group activities promote cooperation, respect, and problem-solving.

  • Expanding coping skills – facing new and sometimes challenging situations with horses helps participants build resilience and flexibility.

  • Supporting sensory and emotional regulation – the sights, sounds, movements, and calming presence of horses create opportunities to practice regulation in a safe environment.

  • And so much more… – each session provides unique lessons that participants can carry into everyday life.

Cost

The cost will vary depending on groups size and the needs of the group.
